Wolves News and Form

It has been back to back draws for Wolves so far this season. They have been busier than most the other top flight teams though, because of their participation in the Europa League qualifiers. Have those distractions on a Thursday night caused Wolves to have had a slow start to the Premier League? After a 0-0 away draw at Leicester to start the season, Wolves then hosted Manchester United in their first home game. They were a bit over-ran in the first half of that game were Wolves. The visitors missed a penalty in the second half of the game too.

But in general, Wolves do look as if they are going to be a tough side to beat. There are some really good players that Nuno has managed to get into the club. They have a genuine goal scoring threat in Raul Jimenez, and more than capable creativity with the likes of Rueben Neves, Jota and Joao Moutinho. There is a lot of potential in this squad but they haven’t really gotten going in front of goal yet. Wolves earned a W10 D4 L5 record at home in last season’s Premier League and they ended their season with a W3 D1 sequence at Molineux. Last season Wolves earned a clean sheet in 37% of their home games, scoring at an average of 1.5 per fixture.

Burnley News and Form

The Clarets have at least won a league game this season, which is more than can be said for Wolves. So Sean Dyche’s men do have that over them. Anyway, Burnley opened with a 3-0 home win over Southampton. They put in a great shift at the Emirates when they went out on the road for the first time this season. They lost theere against Arsenal 2-1 but the Clarets did more than enough in the game to have avoided defeat at the very least.

It just wasn’t to be their day in North London. But there have been some early promise and enterprise from them. In the Premier League last season Burnley had a really poor first half of the campaign. So this positive start at least has been a good thing. However, you do always expect just a little bit more out of Burnley at Turf Moor than out on the road. The Clarets won just four times way from home last season.

Their away record was W4 D5 L10. So plenty of room for improvement there. The Clarets finished the season with one win in their last five road games. Burnley averaged just over a goal per game on their travels. But they look to have plenty of spring in their step at the moment. Striker Ashley Barnes looks in great shape.

Wolves v Burnley Predictions

Wolves to win: This is probably going to end up being a tight game because of the way that Burnley have started the season. Wolves are a very good side though and may have enough to seal the three points on home soil, probably by nothing more than a one-goal margin.
