Wolves News and Form – Can Wolves get a first home win of the season?

Wolves have really put together some great performances in the Europa League qualifiers, but it hasn’t quite happened for them in the Premier League. They really haven’t looked comfortable in any of their EPL fixtures yet. After drawing their opening three games of the campaign, they lost 3-2 at Everton just before the international break. Both teams have scored in each of Wolves’ last three league fixtures.

They have remained unbeaten at Molineux having drawn there with Manchester United and Burnley. Wolves are undefeated in their last ten Premier League which is a great streak of form. Their top scorer in the Premier League is Raul Jiminez with two. It is going to be so important for them to get that domestic form up and running. Starting from next week they have to deal with the distraction of the group stage proper in the Europa League.  Each of their last three league games have gone under 2.5 goals. Willy Boly is sidelined after his red card against Everton.

Chelsea News and Form

The Blues have only managed a W1 D2 L1 record this season in the Premier League. They lost heavily against Man Utd in their first game of the season, but are undefeated in three. So there are positives to be taken from that. Their one victory happened away from Stamford Bridge, a 3-2 success against Norwich. That was a wide-open end to end game. Just before the international break, they blew a 2-0 lead at home against Sheffield United to only end up settling for a point in a 2-2 result. Norwich are the only side to have conceded more goals than Chelsea have done in the league.

Chelsea’s defence is all over the place and that is not going to get fixed overnight, of course. Striker Tammy Abraham has come good with two goals in each of his last two games. The only other Chelsea player to have netted in the top flight this season is Mason Mount, with two goals. The Blues have a few injury concerns over Emerson, Pedro, N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic. Defender Antonio Rudiger is getting closer to a return. All but one of the six goals this season have happened in the first half of fixtures.

Wolves v Chelsea Predictions

Home win: Given that it is so hard to trust the Chelsea defence over the course of 90 minutes, then the away win doesn’t take much fancy. Wolves are a much better side than what they have shown on the domestic front this season. They can push for a win in this one against a flimsy defence.
