Worcester v Wasps Rugby Premiership – 10th September 2017

Back Worcester to cover handicap at Sixways

Rugby Betting

There will be a bit of pressure on Worcester to deliver at Sixways on Sunday after a heavy defeat in their opening match. But this is not an easy game for them to recover in at all and they will be going as heavy underdogs for the match up. Wasps put a convincing win on the board in round one last weekend when they took out Sale at the Ricoh Arena, but at the end of last season, they weren’t great out on the road.

Worcester v Wasps Preview

Worcester took a massive 8-35 hit at Newcastle in the first round of this season’s action. That’s a poor start from them, but not totally unexpected after finishing second from bottom in the table last term. They have only landed one victory now in their last six rounds of Premiership rugby, but as a positive that lone victory did happen on home soil when they beat Bath back in April. But they are heavy underdogs for this one against last season’s table toppers.

In the previous Premiership head to head matches between the two of them, Wasps are well up with a 14-6 lead with two draws. So that’s pretty comprehensive. In last season’s trip to Sixways, Wasps posted 26-12 victory over the Warriors and beat them 40-33 in the reverse fixture later in the season in a thrilling match. Wasps are on a six match winning streak against the Warriors now, since a loss at Sixways back in March 2013.

But this will be something of a test for Wasps who have won just two of their last seven away games in all competitions now. In the Handicap market then a Worcester +14 option looks pretty decent value at 10/11, because the Warriors were highly disappointed with their performance last week and will want to kick off their home campaign with something of a positive, plus throw in the slightly dodgy road form from Wasps and Worcester may be able to hang in there with an optimistic home crowd behind them.
