When & Where is the World Series Of Darts 2021

The World Series Of Darts Finals are played from October 29th-31st and they are being hosted in Amsterdam.

The World Series Of Darts usually consists of different events throughout the year, which play towards qualifying for the final.

But four of the five tournaments for the 2021 Series ended up being cancelled.

Those had been scheduled for the USA, Australia and New Zealand.

So that left just the Nordic Masters in mid-September as the only one of the World Series Of Darts tournaments to be played this year.

2021 World Series Of Darts Results:

  • US Masters – Cancelled
  • New South Wales Masters – Cancelled
  • Queensland Masters – Cancelled
  • New Zealand Masters – Cancelled
  • Nordic Masters – Michael van Gerwen
  • World Series Of Darts Finals – TBD

Our betting prediction:
Michael Van Gerwen
3/1

Michael van Gerwen is the outright favourite

Playing on home turf could give Dutchman Michael van Gerwen a bit of a boost this weekend.

Not that he really needs it.

Mighty Mike has won four of the last five World Series Of Darts events including the 2019 Finals.

He has also won the title in four of the six previous editions of the World Series Of Darts Final tournaments.

Michael van Gerwen enters the fray after winning the Nordic Masters.

That was with an 11-7 victory over Fallon Sherrock in the Copenhagen Final.

MVG is the current 3/1 favourite for World Series Of Darts betting* (odds recorded at 16:04 GMT on October 27th, 2021 at Bet365).

The one interesting thing about Michael van Gerwen’s season is that he hasn’t won a televised event this calendar year.

He has claimed only two such titles since the beginning of 2020.

MVG’s best result this season in a televised event was reaching the final of the European Championship earlier this month. Rob Cross beat him in the Final.

Can Gerwyn Price defend his title?

“The Iceman” Gerwyn Price fell to Michael van Gerwen in the quarters of the recent European Championship of darts.

But the Welshman is going to be a big threat in this tournament and he is the 10/3 second-favourite in darts betting* (odds recorded at 16:04 GMT on October 27th, 2021 at Bet365).

Price is the reigning World Champion and has reached at least the semi-finals in four of six televised darts tournaments played this year since being crowned World Champion in January.

Interestingly, there could be a huge semi-final showdown in the top half of the World Series Of Darts draw between Price and Van Gerwen.

Price is the reigning World Series Of Darts Championship, beating Rob Cross in last year’s final in Austria.

He recently ran to the final of the World Grand Prix in Leicester earlier this month.

Can Snakebite raise his game?

Peter Wright lost to Gerwyn Price in the semi finals of last year’s World Series Of Darts Finals.

“Snakebite” has won a couple of televised tournaments this year, lifting the World Matchplay and the PDC World Cup of Darts.

But aside from a semifinal place at The Masters, the rest of his form in the televised PDC tournaments in 2021 hasn’t been spectacular.

Wright is a two-time finalist of the World Series Of Darts Finals and was a semi-finalist last year. The title has evaded him.

Besides Michael van Gerwen, Peter Wright is the only player to have appeared in the Final of this tournament more than once.

Does Fallon Sherrock have a chance?

At the Nordic Masters, Fallon Sherrock made some history. She became the first-ever woman to reach the final of a PDC televised tournament.

Sherrock put on a good show there, beating Daniel Larsson in the First Round.

She did get a walkover against top-seed Gerwyn Price in the Quarter Finals it should be noted, before winning a deciding leg to beat Dimitri Van den Bergh in the semis.

Sherrock went down 11-7 to Michael van Gerwen in the FInal of the Nordic Masters.

The “Queen of the Palace” did line up in last year’s World Series Of Darts Finals draw. Sherrock was defeated in the first round by Canada’s Jeff Smith.

But she’s back, having earned her place as second seed thanks to that run in Copenhagen.

Sherrock is a 100/1 outsider in darts betting for this however* (odds recorded at 16:04 GMT on October 27th, 2021 at Bet365).

She is down in the bottom half of the draw where a potential Quarter Final opponent could be Gary Anderson.

Other players to watch for 2021 World Series Of Darts Final betting

Looking for players with a little bit of form, Danny Noppert has some. He reached the semi-finals of the World Grand Prix and followed straight up with a Quarter Final place at the European Championships. Noppert may be a lively outsider.

He gets a tricky opening though against Jose de Sousa who himself ran to the Quarter Finals of the European Championship earlier this month.

Welshman Johnny Clayton has had a breakthrough season on the PDC.

There have been three televised titles from him.

He’s collected the World Grand Prix, The Masters and the Premier League Darts title in what has been a superb 2021.

Clayton reached the semi-finals at the Nordic Masters but the draw could work against him as he’s in the top half along which means he may have to go through Gerwyn Price and Michael van Gerwen just to get to the final.

World Series Of Darts Predictions

The draw of the World Series of Darts Finals betting makes this tournament very interesting. Michael van Gerwen and Gerwyn Price could compete together in the semi-finals.

Whoever prevails out of that potential matchup is going to be the red hot favourite to sweep the title.

It is hard to see it ending up being anything different than one of those two taking the crown.

Michael van Gerwen has the bigger history in the tournament and really discovered a nice bit of form in winning the Nordic and getting to the Final of the European Championship.

Because of that, at 3/1 it’s the big Dutchman that just shades it this time for darts betting* (odds recorded at 16:04 GMT on October 27th, 2021 at Bet365)..
