WTA Auckland Betting Info
While the majority of the big guns are over in Brisbane contesting the Premier level tournament and big prize money there, others are warming up for the forthcoming Australian Open by playing in Auckland. Not as deep of a quality field that the Australian tournament has to offer this week for your WTA tennis betting, but there is some value in looking at the New Zealand market.

WTA Auckland Betting Defending Champion
China’s Jie Zheng went all the way last season and goes as fourth seed for the latest edition. The thing about this tournament is that it could be hit and miss with players playing their first competitive matches for a while. She could have a good run again on the back of prior succes, not one of the favourites and title defences are so hard to pull off. She is also in the same half as favourite Agnieszka Radwanska so it probably won’t happen. Zheng is trading at 12.5 at Betfair.

WTA Auckland Betting Favourite
Poland’s Agnieszka Radwanska is the favorite for Auckland and not surprisingly. She is the only top ten player in the field and going to be well worth backing for a win. Radwanska had a tremendous season last term, reaching the final of Wimbledon and all, which she couldn’t convert into her maiden Slam title. Anyway, she was one of the most consistent performers of the entire year. Sometimes her lack of power lets her down, but in a tournament of this level, her craft and experience should take her far. Radwanska is trading as favourite at 1.96 at online betting exchange Betfair.

Other Contenders
Germany’s Julia Goerges fell a little flat last season after showing so much promise in 2011. Still, she has the game to stitch together deep runs. There are concerns over her consistency, which isn’t high, but she is a top twenty player and only one of two in the field along with Radwanska. She is in the other half of the draw from the favourite as well and if she gets her serve going, could enjoy a good week.

Germany’s Mona Barthel could make something count here. One of the most exciting and promising youngsters on the WTA Tour and she has tremendous rising stock. She is one who can come through the field, build up a head of steam and make a title shot here. Worth watching out for her all season. She lost in the second round of Auckland last season but followed that up a week later with her first ever WTA title in Hobart, Australia. A nice strong start again would do wonders for her. Short price reflects her true talent.

Best Outside Bet
Belgium’s Yanina Wickmayer could be worth watching down in the other half of the draw. It is probably worth avoiding Radwanska’s half of the draw for obvious reasons. Sitting at 23 in the world at the moment, she could be worth considering and tracking for the week because she is a former winner of Auckland. She won the title back in 2010 and will naturally enjoy being back there. Scored some good results last season, especially over the first half of it. Wickmayer is backable around 15.0 at online betting exchange Betfair.
