WTA Stuttgart Open Tennis Betting Info
A big event this week on the WTA, as the players starting priming themselves for the next Grand Slam, the French Open. Stuttgart has become one of the most important build up tournaments ahead of Roland Garros, because it is also a clay court surface, but not only that, it is exactly the same size grain used on the court here, as at the French Open. So players really aren’t going to get much better practice than playing at Stuttgart. The surface is fast, and not only is their ranking points and a big cash prize on offer for the winner, the 2012 winner will also get a Porsche 911 Carrera to boot, as the event is sponsored by Porsche. Get set for a heated week of tennis in Stuttgart, where the top eight women in the world are competing.

WTA Stuttgart Open Tennis Betting Defending Champion
Germany’s Julia Goerges did the business here last year, in a fantastic tournament. Stuttgart really was one of the highlights of the WTA year outside of the Grand Slams. Julia Goerges beat out Caroline Wozniacki in the finals last year, with the German playing some of the best tennis of her career, and leading a charge for a new era of German tennis, alongside the likes of Sabine Lisicki, Andrea Petkovic, Mona Barthel and Angelique Kerber. Goerges has had some good runs this year, including a quarter final at Barcelona last week, where she lost to eventual winner Sara Errani. Georges also went to the final of Dubai, beating Caroline Wozniacki in the semi finals there, and with a quarter final in Paris as well, she has started to show more consistency. She is a very big momentum player though, and although she has climbed the rankings well, still quite hasn’t developed that ruthless edge to win more titles. Needs to get behind her big first serve, and her experience last year, as fantastic as it was, is unlikely to be repeated. She is out at 33/1 with Bet Victor.

WTA Stuttgart Open Tennis Betting Favourite
Very interesting field here, and it is world number one Victoria Azarenka who goes as favourite. Vika has been in breathtaking form this year, taking the game on to another level. She is trading at 7/4 favourite with BetFred for Stuttgart tennis betting. She should be pretty fresh, because this is the first time she has stepped out on court since losing in the quarter finals of Miami. That defeat against Marion Bartoli ended a 26 match unbeaten streak from the start of the season. After winning her first Grand Slam at the Australian Open this year, she will be hungry to fine tune her skills on clay. Out of her eleven career titles, she has only taken one on clay (at Marbella last year). So not a strong clay court player, but in great 2012 form.

Other Contenders
Well, once again the fantastic depth of the WTA field makes for some fascinating tennis betting. Maria Sharapova is the number two seed, and like Azarenka, has played since Miami. Sharapova made it to the final of Miami, losing out to Agnieszka Radwanska. Sharapova has been in the final of three of her four events started this season, and so again, is playing with some fantastic form. She hasn’t played in Germany since 2004 and also like Azarenka again, only three of 24career titles have come on clay. She picked up one clay title last year in Rome. Very strong, very fit at the moment. She could face Flavia Pennetta in the second round though, a player who has won the last two meetings between them.

Petra Kvitova is also trading well in the betting, but she has been having a tough season because of fitness problems. Has pretty much bombed, and likely going to need more match practice to bounce back. Poland’s Agnieszka Radwanska makes for a much stronger proposition outside of Azarenka. She has really been the start performer of the WTA this season, and finally all her hard work paid off with her second title of the season, when she beaten Maria Sharapova in the final of Miami, having gone through Venus Williams and Marion Bartoli to get there. Radwanska also won in Dubai, beating Julia Goerges in the final, and that aside, all of her other tournament entries have been halted by Victoria Azarenka (plus one withdraw because of injury). Very strong player at the moment, consistent and moving well.

There is a solid crop of players really all in the hunt. Francesca Schiavone is a great clay court player, but really hasn’t been showing any kind of consistent form this year. She seems to come to life more on the red stuff than anywhere else though, so could be a dark horse. Caroline Wozniacki is still seeking a winning formula She got to the final of Copenhagen recently, only to lose to Angelique Kerber. She has progressively, albeit very slowly, been getting closer to a much needed win. There is also the popular Marion Bartoli, who has the ability to run anyone down on clay. Always pushing hard and will get her winning break sooner or later. With other names like clay court specialist Sam Stosur, Flavia Pennetta, Dominika Cibulkova and Na Li in the mix, along with Ana Ivanovic, who is looking back to her very best, the options run deep. Would look at Pennetta and Cibulkova as the strongest there.

Best Outside Bet
Plenty of options here as well in the outside betting market. However, we are going to stick with home grown talent and that is youngster Mona Barthel. This is another young girl with tremendous amount of potential, and she has already landed a title this year, back in Hobart, and reached the quarter finals of Paris and Copenhagen Clearly there is still some more development and growth to go, but a very, very bright young talent. Way out at 66/1 with BetFred but worth keeping an eye to win some games. The sparkling form of German Angelique Kerber can’t be ignored either. She has really come to life winning in Paris and Copenhagen, and running up three other semi finals besides that. She is going great guns at the moment and at 33/1 with Ladbrokes is not a bad call at all.
