With the Wyndham Championship golf betting odds preview, we are getting the business end of the season now.

This is the last chance for players to play their way into the FedExCup, which starts with The Northern Trust next week.

So there are high stakes for a lot of players in North Carolina this week for the Wyndham Championship.

We look at the main contenders in golf betting this week on the PGA Tour.

When & Where is the Wyndham Championship?

The popular and famous tournament is hosted annually in Greensboro at the Sedgefield Country Club in North Carolina.

The tournament has been hosted there since 2008 and this year’s edition starts on August 12th, 2021.

Wyndham Championship reigning champion

Jim Herman is the current champion at the Wyndham Championship after popping up with a surprise win in the last edition.

Herman is back for a title defence but is a long 125/1 shot in golf betting odds this week * (odds recorded at 20:12 GMT on August 10th, 2021 at Paddy Power).

At the recent WGC St Jude tournament he finished even par for the event.

He had actually gotten off to a cracker with an opening 64.

But then each round at the event got progressively worse and he finished with a poor Sunday, shooting a 5 over par round of 75.

Herman just hasn’t been anywhere near a win this year, his best recent effort was taking a T20 finish at the Barbasol Championship last month

Webb Simpson the 12/1 FAV in Wyndham Championship Golf Betting Odds

It is Webb Simpson who is trading as the current 12/1 favourite in Wyndham Championship Golf odds* (odds recorded at 20:12 GMT on August 10th, 2021 at Paddy Power).

The American has won before at Sedgefield, a decade ago, but he has a great track record here. He has been in the mix in each of the last four editions.

Simpson took a share of third in last year’s Wyndham Championship.

Across his last four appearances at the Wyndham, Simpson averages 65 per round.

He has to be in with a big chance and it wouldn’t exactly be a surprise to see the North Carolina native go well once again.

Louis Oosthuizen

South Africa’s Louis Oosthuizen has been in very strong form recently and the 38-year-old runs to action after a Top 20 finish at the WGC St Jude last week.

Oosthuizen has taken a top-three finish in five of his last eight tournaments on the PGA including going close at the US Open in June and The Open a month later.

He’s in big form and there is a big prize in front of him.

If Oosthuizen takes a top-two finish this week then he will go to the FedExCup playoffs as the top seed.

Remarkably he could pull that off without having won on the PGA Tour this season, but that’s a tremendous mark of his consistency.

Outshine is a quote of 18/1 in golf betting this week* (odds recorded at 20:12 GMT on August 10th, 2021 at Paddy Power).

Hideki Matsuyama

Another of the expected strong challenges this week could be from Hideki Matsuyama who has put together back-to-back strong efforts.

The Japanese star took a T4 at the Olympic Games with four very solid rounds, the best being a 64 in the second.

He appeared to have lost no momentum at all as he went to TPC Southwind last week for the WGC St Jude Invitational and he took a podium finish there as well.

Matsuyama has played at Sedgefield, one of the easiest courses on the entire Tour, six times before and has taken a Top 15 finish on three occasions.

He will probably be keen to ride this strong momentum that he has built into the Play-Offs.

There is a quote of 9/4 currently on Matsuyama to win this week* (odds recorded at 20:12 GMT on August 10th, 2021 at Paddy Power).

Our betting prediction:
Sungjae Im
25/1

Brandt Snedeker not be counted out

Another with a good track record at Sedgefield is Brandt Snedeker. He is second on the all-time money listed here at the course.

That includes a win which he took in 2018 after posting a bogey on the opening hole of the campaign. He still got around the course in under 60.

Snedeker was starting to build some form with back to back Top 20 finishes at The Open and then the 3M Open.

Snedeker comes in at a potential 50/1 each way play for Wyndham Championship golf betting this week* (odds recorded at 20:12 GMT on August 10th, 2021 at Paddy Power).

Will Zalatoris could feature this week

Will Zalatoris picked up a Top 10 finish last week at the WGC St Jude Invitational which was a good response.

He powered through some back pain issues last week.

In his penultimate tournament, Zalatoris had withdrawn after the first round of The Open.

The American has carded 8 Top Ten finishes this year plus a season-best runner up spot taken at the Masters back in April.

Zalatoris comes in at a quote of 25/1 to pick up the victory this week* (odds recorded at 20:12 GMT on August 10th, 2021 at Paddy Power).

Si Woo Kim to go well again at Sedgefield?

We have already looked at Webb Simpson who is a big horse for the course and fitting that bill as well is Si Woo Kim.

The South Korean took the title here at Sedgefield in 2016 and he went close to earning his second last year.

He held the lead at the end of the third round, but couldn’t capitalize on Sunday. A final round of 70 saw him take a share of third.

That is back to back Top 5 finishes now that Si Woo Kim has posted at the course.

He is well worth consideration for golf betting this week at 33/1* (odds recorded at 20:12 GMT on August 10th, 2021 at Paddy Power).

Sungjae Im another big contender?

Another big South Korean contender this week in Wyndham Championship golf betting is Sungjae Im.

He has gone well here on his two previous visits. It appears that Sungjae Im has immediately gotten to grips with the course.

It has been a Top 10 finish for him on his previous visits. He will bring fantastic accuracy with the driver and that should put him in contention.

The rest of his game hasn’t quite backed up his driving this season.

However, for a quote of 25/1, it looks as if Im could be a big player this week* (odds recorded at 20:12 GMT on August 10th, 2021 at Paddy Power).
