Can Maydanny deliver on handicap debut?

The unexposed 4-year-old MAYDANNY will be back for just his third racetrack appearance and is the 9/4 favourite* (betting odds taken from Betfair at 21:12 GMT on Tuesday, June 2nd 2020).

He has taken second place in two efforts so far, the most recent of which was at Nottingham last June, missing out by under a length.

Those were promising runs and while it’s almost a year away from the action, going off a handicap debut at 80 should keep Maydanny lively in this contest which is his handicap debut.

Two Bids drops back in trip

TWO BIDS is the 3/1 second-favourite for the trip* (betting odds taken from Betfair at 21:12 GMT on Tuesday, June 2nd 2020). This will be his first run since being gelded and that last effort was 212 days ago where he was second of five at Newcastle.

He will have a hood for the first time as well. The top connections are persisting with him although this will be his seventh attempt at trying to break his maiden.

Maiden winner Rum Baba to follow up

RUM BABA did break his maiden on his last effort, his third racetrack appearance. That happened in a contest at Windsor at the start of July last year. He has been away from action since then.

But there should be a promising return for him in this one as he looks to have a very good turn of speed in him and lines up as a 4/1 option* (betting odds taken from Betfair at 21:12 GMT on Tuesday, June 2nd 2020). He goes from an initial 79.

City Wanderer brings winning form

Mick Channon’s CITY WANDERER will bring some appeal to the table for punters as well. The 4-year-old gelding goes from 9/2* (betting odds taken from Betfair at 21:12 GMT on Tuesday, June 2nd 2020).

The claims come from three wins in his last four runs, the most recent of which happened in late August. That was in a Class 4 handicap at Windsor. So he has the handicap experience behind him and is more than fair at 79.

Predictions & Tips

There is naturally some excitement about MAYDANNY in this contest who could make an impression on his return. He could well be underestimated at his opening mark of 80. He’s definitely a threat on his handicap debut.

Also on a handicap debut is TWO BIDS but will have slightly less appeal because of missed attempts at breaking maiden. The big change is in him having been gelded.

But there looks to be some great value sitting on the shoulders of the more experienced CITY WANDERER. The Irish runner is a distance winner and will be in cheekpieces, winning in them in his one previous time wearing.

If the occasion and competition get to the feature, then City Wanderer could easily be sat waiting to pounce.
