In that July Stakes win, he beat Asymmetrick who went on to subsequently win the Richmond.

He has improved well on his last two, and he comes up 3lb for this trip. Lusail has a big chance on Friday to deliver the win.

Berkshire Shadow can launch a bold bid

While Fearby wasn’t anywhere near the winner in the Group 3 contest, he has claims.

There have been wins for him at Sandown and Wetherby and he looks well-bred to thrive on this step up in trip.

Orazio can bounce back

Another who enters the Gimcrack action warranting some respect is ORAZIO. This will be just his third run.

Other contenders

ELDRICKJONES is still a maiden, but he is no forlorn hope. The pick of his form was a second-place finish in the Coventry behind Berkshire Shadow.

He was beaten by that rival again on his latest in the Vintage Stakes at Goodwood at 7f.

GIS A SUB looks to have plenty more to come. He went close at York on his debut, before following immediately with a score at Pontefract.

There were excuses for him in the Richmond last time out and Gis A Sub isn’t without place claims.

SPITTING FEATHERS looks as if he can take a step forward as well.

After an indifferent debut, he brought forward his form to win a Carlisle novice on his latest effort, which was 58 days ago. He is open to more.

This is a good competitive fixture and it’s hard to look past the threat of LUSAIL at 9/4* (odds recorded at 18:35 GMT on August 19th, 2021 at Coral).

Back to back wins at Newmarket fully puts him in this and with a victory over Richmond winner Asymmetric last time out, Lusail rates a huge threat.

FEARBY should be right in the mix in this one after a very strong and credible second place in the Molebomb.
