Sir Ron Priestley 6/4 FAV for Yorkshire Cup Stakes Racing Odds

Heading up the market for Friday’s big one is SIR RON PRIESTLEY at 6/4* (odds recorded at 19:08 GMT on May 13th, 2021 at Coral).

He has taken back to back victories. Those were recorded at Nottingham and then impressively at Newmarket.

The latter of those was in the Jockey Club Stakes on a 1m 4f trip. It really wasn’t an ideal trip for him.

It was a convincing win nonetheless by more than two furlongs.

So as Sir Ron Priestley makes a step up in trip, that is just going to strengthen his cause in the race.

There is a hattrick chance here for Sir Ron Priestley on Friday.

He is a great bold front runner and if the field allows him to take control, he is going to be really tough to stop.

SIR RON PRIESTLEY
6/4

Can Nayef Road take down the favourite?

There should be a strong bold challenge coming in from NAYEF ROAD. There usually is as he is a wonderfully consistent performer.

He is a stablemate to Sir Ron Priestley and having had a reappearance, the likeable 5 year old should be in the thick of this.

Nayef Road is a quote of 10/3 to take the win* (odds recorded at 19:08 GMT on May 13th, 2021 at Coral).

Nayef Road was last seen at the Sagaro Stakes at Ascot a couple of weeks ago. There was a third-place finish for him in.

He was by no means disgraced in the contest, which was won by the brilliant Stradivarius. The form from the last campaign is worth revisiting.

Nayef Road placed in three top staying events last season. He has enough to get up there, but we’re not sure about him turning over his stablemate.

Can Santiago get back on track?

Supporters of SANTIAGO will have felt a little let down by his run on his reappearance. That was in the Group 3 Vintage Crop Stakes in which he finished fourth.

He just wasn’t at his best on the day. Nowhere near the kind of form that saw him take fourth place in the St Leger on his final run of last year.

But the positive is that the reappearance could have sharpened him up. The Irish Derby winner is capable of a lot better anyway.

He may need the favourite to stumble, but Santiago is the current 15/8 second favourite in Yorkshire Cup Stakes* (odds recorded at 19:08 GMT on May 13th, 2021 at Coral).

Spanish Mission not be discounted?

Even though he is out at a quote of 11/1 in the Yorkshire Cup odds, SPANISH MISSION isn’t a forlorn hope* (odds recorded at 19:08 GMT on May 13th, 2021 at Coral).

He picked up the Doncaster Cup last year and has had two runs under his belt for this campaign.

Both were respectable enough. Spanish Mission was in the middle of the pack in the Group 2 Stakes at Meydan on a 2m trip in March.

The ground could be in his favour a little bit as he comes back down on the trip. There were a couple of good wins for Spanish Mission last term.

Place claims are not unreasonable but will have to come up with a career-best to get the score in a strong field.

Wells Farrh Go makes return after long absence

19 months away from the action is asking a lot of WELLS FARHH GO to make any kind of impact in this fixture.

He is a good front runner on his day, but this looks well beyond him. At the end of his 2019 campaign, his form was going downhill as well.

It’s hard to make any kind of claim for him at 33/1* (odds recorded at 19:08 GMT on May 13th, 2021 at Coral).

Predictions & Tips for Yorkshire Cup Stakes Racing Odds

We think this is just made for SIR RON PRIESTLEY who is the 6/4 favourite* (odds recorded at 19:08 GMT on May 13th, 2021 at Coral).

He has been thriving with his form and the manner of victory at Newmarket on his last run, which again was not at an ideal trip, speaks volumes about Mark Johnston’s charge.

We think he holds off his stablemate NAYEF ROAD who in turn, ran very well at the Sagaro Stakes on his latest effort. So he should be something of a lock for the places.

We can’t look beyond the two of those really. SANTIAGO needs a big response to a poor effort last time out at Group 3.
