Accrington Stanley registered a valuable three points away from home last weekend when they beat Cambridge United 3-2 away at the Abbey Stadium which extended Accrington’s unbeaten record to four matches in League Two.
Accrington have actually managed three wins from these last four games with wins over Dagenham & Redbridge, Leyton Orient and Cambridge United along with a point against a revived Newport County in a 2-2 draw.
Stanley now sit in fourth place in the English fourth tier and they could leapfrog play-off rivals Northampton Town into third spot if they take all three points in tonight’s clash against Hartlepool United. Accrington’s home record stands at 4-3-2 18/15 and their likely anytime goalscorer look to be Windass, McConville and Kee.
Visitors Hartlepool United reverted to type on Saturday afternoon when they lost 3-1 away at Mansfield Town following a rare win in the league as they beat Leyton Orient 3-1 at Victoria Park the week before.
But it’s now three defeats from their last four matches with losses to Crawley Town and AFC Wimbledon along with the aforementioned Mansfield Town. The Pools have managed to pick up three away wins so far on their travels this season with wins at York City, Yeovil Town and Dagenham, but these are incidentally against the bottom three clubs in the division!
Hartlepool’s away record stands at 3-0-6 8/14 overall, while their record on the road away at top half opposition stands at a woeful 0-0-4 3/9, and it looks like another defeat for the visitors this evening.
