Avenging a recent 3-2 defeat away from home to tonight’s opponents Asteras Tripolis will be on the minds of AEK Athens this afternoon when they take on Tripolis again in the Greek Super League, but this time at their Olympiako Stadio Spyros Louis ground.
AEK Athens will be glad to return to more familiar surroundings as they’ve had to travel away from home in their last three league matches on the trot which has seen them suffer defeats at Asteras Tripolis and Panaitolikos along with a point at Panathinaikos.
But along with Olympiakos, Athens still remain unbeaten on home soil so far in this Greek Super League campaign with a home record that stands at 3-5-0 14/4 which also includes five clean sheets to date this season.
Visitors Asteras Tripolis have managed just two Super League wins from their last eight matches overall which were incidentally both at their Stadio Theodoros ground against tonight’s opponents AEK Athens and Panaitolikos respectively.
However, their results away from home have been found wanting which is why they currently occupy a bottom half position in the Greek top flight with a poor away record of 1-1-6 6/16 with just the one win gained at PAS Giannina back in November.
Tripolis have failed to keep a single clean sheet on their travels so far this term too which could again hold them back here, as well as conceding 2 goals or more on 5 occasions from their 8 away matches overall.
This should end up a home win here.
