Barrow return to National League action on Tuesday night after they were bundled out of the FA Cup third round by Rochdale, losing 2-0, but previous cup wins over Taunton Town and a 2-1 win away at League One side Bristol Rovers will have boosted their morale no doubt.
Barrow’s campaign in this season’s National League has been a success so far as they sit in sixth place despite suffering a heavy 4-1 defeat away at Gateshead last time out, but they’re still unbeaten on home turf with a solid home record that stands at 8-4-0 23/7 which includes six clean sheets to date.
Barrow have also claimed some useful scalps along the way too with wins gained over Aldershot Town, Chester and Eastleigh, so they’ll be confident they can bounce back with a win here this evening against struggling Southport.
Onto the visitors then, and Southport have recently been dealt back-to-back defeats away from home as they’ve slumped to 1-0 and 2-1 defeats at Wrexham and Aldershot Town respectively, and despite recording back-to-back home wins, The Sandgrounders still remain near the bottom of the National League.
Only two points separate Southport from the bottom four ahead of their trip to Barrow, and with a poor away record under their belts that reads a disappointing 2-2-9 10/30, they could once again struggle on their travels this evening.
Only bottom club York City (31 goals) have conceded more away goals than Southport who have kept just one clean sheet and conceded 2 goals or more on 9 occasions from their 13 away matches so far.
