Belenenses to take advantage of goal-shy Boavista

Football – Portugal – Primeira Liga

Monday 3rd November 2014 – Kickoff: 2000hrs

Hosts Belenenses will be seeking to post back-to-back Primeira Liga wins for the second time this season when they entertain third from bottom club Boavista at their Estadio do Restelo ground on Monday night.

Belenenses will head into tonight’s clash in good spirits following last Sunday’s 2-1 win away at mid-table Estoril and they’ve lost just twice all season in their first eight league matches to date which were at home to Vitoria and away at Pacos de Ferreira who are both occupying top half positions, 3rd and 4th place respectively.

At home, Belenenses hold a  2-1-1  5/5 record having registered wins over Nacional 3-1 and Maritimo 1-0 who are both hold higher league positions than visitors Boavista, along with a draw against Vitoria Setubal.

Visitors Boavista travel to Belenenses on the back of two straight defeats to Vitoria Guimaraes and Pacos de Ferreira, and they currently occupy third from bottom in the Primeira Liga just one position and three points above second from bottom club Penafiel.

Boavista have recently registered two welcome wins over Academica and Gil Vicente, but bear in mind that both of these rare successes came at home while their overall away record stands at a poor  0-1-3  0/10 where they’ve failed to win in their last eight away matches at this level.

To make matters worse, Boavista have failed to score on their travels in their last four encounters with just one point taken from a possible 12 which has been a major contributing factor to their current poor league position.

To sum up, this should be a relatively comfortable home win here for Belenenses who really need to exploit Boavista’s goal-shy record on the road – could be a 2-0 win for the hosts.
