BRISTOL CITY v SHEFFIELD UTD – Pick: 1 AH-0.25 – 14 February 2015

Robins to blunt blades at The Gate

League One/Two Tips

Football – England – League One

Saturday 14th February 2015 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

League One leaders Bristol City will be looking for all three points this afternoon against play-off hopefuls Sheffield United when the two teams meet at Ashton Gate.

Bristol City currently hold a four point cushion over second placed Swindon Town who have to travel up to Scunthorpe this weekend. City meanwhile have home advantage here today, and with six wins from their last seven League One matches, I daresay The Robins will fancy their chances of taking all the points in this one.

City have registered some important wins in recent weeks which have maintained their position at the top of the division with wins over Notts County, Scunthorpe United, Fleetwood Town and Port Vale as well as holding MK Dons to a point at their stadium:mk ground last weekend.

Visitors Sheffield United have returned some mixed results recently with wins over Preston North End, Swindon Town and Colchester United (incidentally all at Bramall Lane), but have suffered away defeats at Port Vale, MK Dons and Gillingham which means they’ll have to be content with a play-off place instead of automatic promotion.

The Blades’ away record stands at  5-2-6  16/19 and they’ve lost their last two away matches on the trot.

United’s inconsistencies on the road have cost them ground on the top teams and I believe they’re some way from making a really serious dent on the promotion aspirations of a club like Bristol City who have been in impressive form recently.

With this in mind, I’ll back The Robins but give the quarter ball as after all this is a top six clash, but there’s still some decent odds to be had. Bristol City to sneak this one perhaps 2-1.
