BURY v TRANMERE – Pick: 1 – 04 October 2014

Shakers to bounce back at Gigg Lane

League One/Two Tips

Football – England – League Two

Saturday 4th October 2014 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

Hosts Bury will be looking to bounce back from last Saturday’s defeat away at Exeter City when they take on Tranmere Rovers at Gigg Lane this afternoon.

Bury are currently in third position and prior to the Exeter defeat, The Shakers had put together an eight match unbeaten run which included six wins as they beat the likes of Plymouth Argyle and early League Two leaders Burton Albion as well as getting a point away at second placed Wycombe Wanderers at Adams Park.

But it’s predominantly been Bury’s home form that has lifted them into the top end of the division with an overall record of  4-0-1  9/5, and they’ve bounced back well from an opening day defeat at home to Cheltenham Town. They’ve registered four straight home wins since with victories over Plymouth, Accrington, Stevenage and a 3-1 win over Burton Albion.

The attacking trio of Lowe, Rose and Nardiello look to be the best bets for anytime goalscorers for Bury here today.

Onto visitors Tranmere Rovers and they’re without a win from their last five league matches which includes defeats to Accrington Stanley, Exeter City and last weekend’s loss at Carlisle United. Away form has been patchy with just one win so far which came at Wycombe Wanderers in a shock result, but they’ve lost three others and drawn one.

Rovers’ away record then stands at  1-1-3  5/6 and they’ve also failed to score in their last two matches on their travels at Hartlepool United and Carlisle United who currently occupy third and bottom placed positions at the moment.

Tranmere’s Bell-Baggie and Stockton are the danger men for the visitors, but I’ll back Bury to bounce back here this afternoon as they’ve put together some decent results on home turf of late. Bury to win perhaps 2-1.
