Celta Vigo grabbed a well-earned automatic Europa League spot at the end of what was a very successful season for the side from Vigo, as they secured a top six finish in La Liga thanks to a 1-0 home win over Malaga in their penultimate game of the campaign.

Onto visitors Leganes, and they finished runners-up to Deportivo Alaves, missing out on claiming the title by just a single point despite a 1-0 win away at Miranda on the last day of the season. Nevertheless, they take their place among the nation’s elite clubs in La Liga this season, and they’ll be hoping to at least consolidate their status in the top flight in this, their inaugural term at this level.
Leganes have never played Celta Vigo before and it’ll be interesting to see how they fare – not only this evening, but away from home generally this season as it is so often the yardstick that new clubs are measured by when promoted from a division below.
To sum up, Celta Vigo should win this one in their first home match of the season.
