Cheltenham Town are probably still smarting from their 1-0 defeat away at Braintree Town last weekend which reduced their margin at the top of the National League to just one point ahead of second placed Forest Green Rovers ahead of the busy Easter schedule.
Cheltenham have actually registered just one league win from their last five in the non-league top flight which was a resounding 4-0 win at home over mid-table Woking and they’ll be looking for more of the same this afternoon when struggling Boreham Wood come to town.
The Robins do hold an excellent home record though in the National League with stats of 13-5-1 37/10 and along with possessing the best defensive record at home in the division, they’ve also achieved 10 clean sheets so far this season.
Visitors Boreham Wood, as mentioned, sit fourth from bottom in the National League with just one point separating them from Altrincham and the safety position of 20th place in the non-league top flight.
However, Boreham have now gone four matches without a win following defeats to Barrow and Wrexham along with stalemates against Barrow and Macclesfield Town, while their away record stands at 5-6-7 16/15 with just one defeat from their last six on their travels.
But scoring goals on the road has been a major stumbling block for today’s visitors as they’ve failed to register on the score-sheet on eight occasions already this term.
In short, Cheltenham will be desperate to hold onto the automatic promotion spot and I fancy them to inflict a back-lash on Boreham Wood this afternoon.
