CHESTER v ALFRETON – Pick: 1 – 18 October 2014

Chester to cash in against poor Alfreton

National League Tips

Football – England – Conference Premier

Saturday 18th October 2014 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

Chester suffered their first league defeat for three matches last weekend when they lost 0-2 at Dover Athletic, but they have a great chance of ‘getting back on the horse’ this afternoon when they entertain Alfreton Town at the Chester Stadium.

Recent wins over bottom club AFC Telford 2-1 away and 1-0 at home against Aldershot Town have lifted Chester away from immediate relegation danger and another three points today could see them move up into a mid-table position.

Chester’s home record stands at  4-1-3  7/12 overall, but they’ve won two of their three home matches against bottom half opposition with wins over Southport and Aldershot Town, and a visit from Alfreton Town who have lost seven of their eight away matches so far represents a real opportunity for Chester to cash in today.

Onto Alfreton Town then, and they currently sit second from bottom in the Conference Premier, saved only by the presence of AFC Telford, otherwise they’d more than likely be sitting bottom of the pile right now.

Home form hasn’t been too bad for Alfreton so far as they’ve registered three wins on home turf including a 4-2 win over 6th placed Torquay United last Saturday, but sadly their results on the road have been very disappointing with an overall record of  1-0-7  3/19.

Their one success so far came at 20th placed Southport in a 2-0 win, but aside from that, they’ve suffered seven defeats in which six of them have been to nil – the worst being a 0-7 thrashing at the hands of Grimsby Town back in August.

To sum up, Chester are unbeaten in their last four at home and have won three of them, while Alfreton have lost their last three away from home on the trot and have failed to score in each of them – this should point towards a home win here, with Chester winning perhaps 2-1.
