CHESTERFIELD v YEOVIL – Pick: X – 01 November 2014

Spireites and Glovers struggling for form

League One/Two Tips

Football – England – League One

Saturday 1st November 2014 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

With third from bottom club Yeovil Town coming to town, Chesterfield will be hoping they can return to their early season form where they lost just twice in their first ten matches of the League One season.

Chesterfield have gone five matches without a win having lost four of these with defeats against Bristol City, Colchester United, Walsall and Swindon Town. they’ve only gained one point from the last possible 15 on offer thanks to a 1-1 draw at home with Oldham Athletic, but their slum in form has resulted in The Spireites dropping down into a mid-table position.

Chesterfield’s overall home record stands at  3-2-2  11/10 and the positive aspect is that they’ve lost just once on home soil in their last five, picking up wins over Scunthorpe United and Sheffield United as well as draws with Notts County and Oldham.

Visitors Yeovil Town currently sit third from bottom in League One having won just three league matches all season so far. The Glovers are without a League One win now in six matches and manager Gary Johnson would be forgiven for feeling envious of his son’s (Lee) exploits at Oldham Athletic who are on the fringes of the play-off positions.

After suffering relegation from the Championship at the end of last season, Gary Johnson must have been fearing the worst, but the board have stuck by him for this campaign, although even their patience must be starting to run out, you’d think.

Yeovil’s away record stands at  2-0-5  7/14 and they’ve lost their last four on the trot with defeats at Coventry City, Crawley Town, Port Vale and Sheffield United.

To sum up, both teams head into this clash on the back of some ordinary results and I reckon both clubs would be happy to settle for a point rather than suffer another defeat – this could end in stalemate then, perhaps 0-0 or 1-1.
