COLCHESTER v BRADFORD – Pick: 2 AH0 – 20 September 2014

Bantams up for fight at Colchester

League One/Two Tips

Football – England – League One

Saturday 20th September 2014 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

Colchester United suffered a third successive league defeat at home to Sheffield United 2-3 on Tuesday night which has resulted in The U’s remaining in the bottom three of League One.

That’s now four home matches without a win in this new League One campaign for Tony Humes’s side as they’ve managed just one point from a possible 12 on home turf thanks to a 2-2 draw with Oldham Athletic, but three defeats on the trot against Doncaster Rovers, Peterborough United and Sheffield United have put them on red alert even at this early stage of the season.

They face a Bradford City side on Saturday who currently occupy fifth place and still remain unbeaten on the road, so The U’s will be up against it again this afternoon despite having home advantage at their Weston Homes Community Stadium.

Colchester’s home record stands at  0-1-3  5/9 and they’ve failed to keep a clean sheet in their last eight home matches in League One.

Visitors Bradford City have made a bright start to the new League One season as they sit in fifth place just three points adrift of second placed Peterborough United. The Bantams registered their third away win of the season when they overturned fourth placed MK Dons 2-1 at stadium:mk and it appears they’re happier away from their Valley Parade ground right now with an overall away record of  3-1-0  7/2 going into today’s match!

Previous away wins have been secured at Crawley Town 3-1, Rochdale 2-0 and of course MK Dons along with a point at Walsall in a 0-0 draw. Bradford have won four of their last five away matches in League One.

Striker Billy Clarke and winger Aaron Mclean are the most likely goalscorers for Bradford this afternoon.

With Colchester’s poor home record and Bradford’s strong showing on their travels so far, I’ll back the Bantams with the round ball here as they could well end up winning this one anyway; could be a 1-0 win for the visitors.
