CRAWLEY v CREWE – Pick: 1 AH-0.25 – 01 November 2014

Red Devils should see off Crewe challenge

League One/Two Tips

Football – England – League One

Saturday 1st November 2014 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

Crawley Town earned a good point away at Gillingham last Saturday at the Priestfield Stadium with a 1-1 draw and they’ll be hoping to post back-to-back home wins this weekend when they entertain Crewe Alexandra.

Last time out at home, Crawley edged out Walsall 1-0 to keep the Red Devils away from the bottom end of League One, and with three wins from their last four on home turf, Crawley will be confident of adding further to their points tally with a visit from Crewe who have won just once on the road this term.

Crawley’s overall home record stands at  4-0-3  7/11 with wins over Swindon Town, Fleetwood Town, Yeovil Town and Walsall, while their defeats have been against mid-table Bradford City, 9th placed Rochdale and 5th placed Peterborough United.

Crewe Alexandra have moved off the bottom of League One and swapped places with fellow strugglers Scunthorpe United thanks to three rare wins on the trot for The Railwaymen.

Recent home wins over Coventry City 2-1 and Peterborough United (1-0), the latter seeming to struggle away at the bottom half teams, along with an away win at Walsall, was welcome respite indeed for Crewe who had previously won just once in their preceding eleven league matches but they still remain in the bottom four of the division.

The win at Walsall was Crewe’s first away win of the season but their overall record on the road remains a poor  1-1-5  4/15 and they’ve won just once in their last eight away matches. In addition, Crewe have kept just two clean sheets from their last 24 away matches which will encourage Crawley here no doubt.

Crawley should have enough to take the points here, but I’m a bit wary of Crewe following their recent win at Walsall; I’ll therefore give the quarter ball on the hosts who should take this perhaps 1-0.
