DOVER v WREXHAM – Pick: 1 AH-0.25 – 20 January 2015

Whites to put Dragons' fire out tonight

National League Tips

Football – England – Conference Premier

Tuesday 20th January 2015 – Kickoff: 1945hrs

Dover Athletic moved into the top half of the Conference Premier for the first time this season following their 6-1 demolition of Dartford on Saturday, and another three points for the Kent outfit tonight could see them emerge as possible play-off contenders.

A twelve-match unbeaten run under manager Chris Kinnear has seen The Whites climb away from the nether regions of the Conference into the safety of a mid-table position as they’ve registered some useful wins recently; 2-1 away at Gateshead, followed by home and away wins over Welling United and the Dartford result.

Dover’s overall home record stands at a useful  8-2-4  26/10 and with the attacking force of Murphy, Payne and midfielder Deverdics, Dover will fancy their chances of getting something here tonight.

Wrexham suffered a devastating 4-1 defeat at home to bottom club AFC Telford on Saturday which has resulted in them currently occupying a bottom half position in the Conference Premier. Kevin Wilkin’s side have produced some mixed results of late with wins over Aldershot Town and Southport while also losing to the likes of lowly Dartford and AFC Telford.

Perhaps the key to Wrexham’s poor season so far has been their away form where The Dragons have won only once in their last eight matches, and that was at 20th placed Southport. But defeats away at Chester, Torquay United and Braintree Town suggest that Wrexham may have a few difficulties here tonight.

Dover are on a good run of form right now, but i’m wary of the prevalence of draws in recent times, particularly concerning Wrexham, so I’ll back the hosts by giving the quarter ball in what could perhaps be a 2-1 win for the hosts.
