The National League title and automatic promotion now appears to be a two-horse race between Forest Green Rovers and Lincoln City, and with Forest Green Rovers playing host to bottom half outfit Solihull Moors at their New Lawn ground on Tuesday night, the hosts may well take over at the top of the division.
Forest Green registered back-to-back league wins on Saturday with a resounding 3-0 home win over Wrexham and they’ll be looking for more of the same this evening against Solihull as they look to keep the pressure on at the top of the National League.
Forest Green have won four of their last five overall with wins over Woking, Macclesfield Town, Sutton United and Wrexham while their overall home record stands at an impressive 10-8-1 40/21 which includes having won their last four home matches on the trot.
Visitors Solihull Moors are in their first season in the non-league top flight and they will consider this term a success as they sit in the relative safety of 14th position in the National League and hold a 10-point cushion ahead of the bottom four.
With the danger of relegation pretty much disappeared, the midlands club can enjoy the run-in to this season as they’ve registered recent useful away wins at Bromley and North Ferriby United along with holding Dover Athletic and Braintree Town to draws.
Solihull have more or less held their own throughout this season as well as on their travels where they’ve recorded an away record of 6-6-7 22/24 with the draw being prevalent when travelling to the top half teams in the division (record of 1-4-3 6/10).
But I have to give the edge to Forest Green here tonight as they chase down automatic promotion.
