LUTON TOWN v YORK CITY

Football – England – League Two Betting Tips

Tenth placed Luton Town will be going in search of a fifth straight win in League Two this afternoon at their Kenilworth Road ground when they take on bottom half club York City as John Still’s side start to gather momentum.

Luton have recently registered wins over Mansfield Town, AFC Wimbledon, Morecambe and Hartlepool United – the latter two results being achieved away from home, while The Hatters’ overall home record now stands at a more respectable  2-1-2  6/5 having previously suffered back-to-back defeats to Bristol Rovers and Portsmouth.

However, Luton have bucked the trend and recorded wins over Mansfield and AFC Wimbledon (both to nil), and strikers Marriott and Mackail-Smith look the likeliest anytime goalscorer for the hosts today.

Visitors York City currently sit in 18th place in League Two having secured just two wins all season to date (1 at home, 1 away), and they’ve gone their last five league matches without a win having drawn with Stevenage, Carlisle United and Cambridge United along with defeats to Notts County and Oxford United.

Away from home, The Minstermen’s overall record stands at a below-par  1-2-2  5/6 with just the one win over rock-bottom Newport County to show for their troubles; but defeats to Wycombe Wanderers and Notts County suggest they could struggle again at Luton today, particularly with scoring goals being a problem for the visitors.

York have failed to score in five of their last eight matches away from home, and this could be a telling factor in today’s clash.

To sum up, I fancy Luton Town with home advantage to claim all three points in perhaps a 2-1 win for The Hatters.
