MACCLESFIELD v LINCOLN – Pick: 1 AH0 – 24 January 2015

Silkmen should avoid defeat to visiting Imps

National League Tips

Football – England – Conference Premier

Saturday 24th January 2015 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

Third placed Macclesfield Town appear to have overcome their recent back-to-back defeats to Grimsby Town and Bristol Rovers (who, incidentally, are placed fourth and second in the Conference) following back-to-back wins of their own against Grimsby Town and Kidderminster.

What makes these recent wins even more impressive is that they were both registered away from their Moss Rose Ground, and with home advantage here this afternoon, The Silkmen will be keen to keep their momentum going as they seek to close in on Bristol Rovers.

Macclesfield have been in strong form on home turf as they’ve won six of their last seven, while overall, their home record stands at an impressive  9-4-1  21/8 with their recent defeat to Grimsby being their only aberration so far.

Potential goalscorers for the hosts are forwards Fairhurst and Barnes-Homer amongst others.

Visitors Lincoln City currently sit in a mid-table position despite winning four of their last five in the Conference with recent wins against Alfreton Town, Grimsby Town, Barnet and Aldershot. However, it should be noted that three of these four wins were recorded at Sincil Bank where they’ve chalked up ten league wins so far.

But away from home, it’s been a very different story as The Imps have won just once on the road in their last eleven trips, which was the aforementioned win at Grimsby Town 3-1. Their overall away record stands at  3-3-7  21/29 even though they are very capable of finding the back of the net with dangerous attacking personnel such as Tomlinson, Burrow and Sam-Yorke.

On the flip-side of scoring goals, is Lincoln’s propensity for conceding, and it may come as no surprise that they’ve failed to keep a single clean sheet on the road so far, and along with Dover Athletic, they’ve conceded the highest number of away goals out of teams in the top half of the division.

This could be a high-scoring match therefore, but I’ll give the nod to Macclesfield Town here who should just about out-score their visitors 3-2, but I do recommend backing them with the draw no bet option.
