MACCLESFIELD v TELFORD – Pick: Over 2.5 goals – 10 March 2015

Silkmen and Stags need goals tonight

National League Tips

Football – England – Conference Premier

Tuesday 10th March 2015 – Kickoff: 1945hrs

After a strong run of form which has seen them lose just once in their last nine in the Conference, Macclesfield are currently placed in the play-off pack and are now just five points adrift of league leaders Bristol Rovers.

Saturday’s 0-0 draw at home with Aldershot Town will have been viewed as two points lost rather than a point gained for The Silkmen, but they have a great chance to redeem themselves this evening when they play host to bottom club AFC Telford at their Moss Rose ground tonight.

Macclesfield’s sole defeat during their last nine was a 4-0 loss away at Eastleigh, but this is an understandable defeat as Eastleigh are also flying in the Conference right now. On home turf, Macclesfield’s record reads a very healthy  12-5-1  29/11 and they’ve won three of their last four at Moss Rose with wins over Lincoln City 3-0, Welling United 3-2 and Altrincham 2-1.

Visitors AFC Telford United caused somewhat of an upset on Saturday when they took all three points in a 1-0 win away at Torquay United at Plainmoor which halted a run of six matches without a win for the seemingly condemned bottom club in the Conference.

However, Telford continue to spring surprises in their quest to avoid the drop and whilst they still remain at the foot of the table, they’ve recently beaten Wrexham, Aldershot Town and Torquay United in their last six on the road which will give them hope of getting something against Macclesfield.

In addition, Telford have continued to hit the back of the net despite their current league standing and only Dover Athletic (26 goals) have scored more on the road than The Stags in the bottom half of the Conference so far this season.

I reckon we stand a good chance of seeing a few goals here tonight with both teams capable of notching so I’ll back the over 2.5 here in what could be a 2-1 win for the hosts.
