Molde will be looking to keep their unbeaten start to the new Norwegian Tippeligaen campaign going on Thursday night when they play host to Valerenga who are sitting just above the early relegation places in the Norwegian top flight.
Molde have continued their impressive form over from the latter stages of last season as they’ve now gone a total of ten league matches without defeat which includes recent wins gained over Stabaek, Lillestrom and Bodo/Glimt, while their overall early home record stands at 1-1-0 5/3.
It of course helps to be involved in both the Champions League and Europa League during the ‘off-season’ as they’ve been able to hit the ground running in this new season, and their confidence would have grown following their Europa League win over Sevilla back in February.
Visitors Valerenga ended a miserable run of four defeats in the new Norwegian season with a resounding 4-0 home win over bottom half club Tromso on the weekend, but they face a tough assignment if they’re to get anything out of Molde this evening.
Four straight defeats to Viking, Sogndal, Rosenborg and Stabaek was not the kind of start former Norwegian international Kenneth Rekdal had in mind for his side, and with a poor start away from home with a record of 0-0-2 1/3 under their belts so far in their opening two away matches, this could be a long night for this evening’s visitors.
I’ll therefore take Molde to gain all three points tonight.
