Cobblers to bounce back against U's

League One/Two Tips

Football – England – League Two

Tuesday 21st October 2014 – Kickoff: 1945hrs

Northampton Town will be looking to bounce back from their 2-3 defeat away at Cheltenham Town on Saturday when they host lowly Oxford United at Sixfields Stadium on Tuesday night.

Chris Wilder’s men have lost their last two on the trot with an earlier defeat to Burton Albion at home, but they have a great chance of returning to winning form when Oxford United visit who have still yet to win an away match this season.

Northampton Town sit in mid-table at the moment and have dropped down a few places in the league ladder on the back of two home defeats on the trot, while their overall record stands at  3-1-2  13/9 but they’re the joint second highest goalscorers at home behind Bury, so I’m expecting a few goals tonight against Oxford’s leaky defence.

Onto Oxford United then, and The U’s registered a much-needed three points at the weekend when they beat Tranmere Rovers 2-0 at the Kassam Stadium in a basement clash, and they’ve moved out of the bottom two as a result, plunging York City into early trouble in the process.

Oxford have picked their game up in recent weeks with a win over Newport County and a point against Stevenage although it should be noted that these results were achieved at home while their away form still needs addressing; still yet to win away from home, Oxford’s away record stands at  0-2-4  4/12.

In fact, Oxford United’s away form has been woeful for some time now as they’ve won just once in their last eighteen (18) away matches!

Northampton manager Chris Wilder will be keen therefore for his side to bounce back against his former club tonight, and with Oxford’s poor away record, the draw no bet on the hosts looks a decent bet. The Cobblers may well edge this 1-0.
