OLDHAM v COLCHESTER – Pick: 1 – 14 February 2015

Latics to continue play-off charge

League One/Two Tips

Football – England – League One

Saturday 14th February 2015 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

Oldham Athletic have really stepped up their game in recent weeks and as a result they currently sit in fifth place as a result of their endeavours.

Three wins from their last four have elevated The Latics into play-off contention with wins over Notts County, Scunthorpe United and Swindon Town, and with a visit from relegation-threatened Colchester United this afternoon at Boundary Park, Oldham will have their sights set on another three points.

On home turf, Oldham possess a pretty solid record of  7-4-3  23/19 and they’ve won their last two matches on the trot with wins over Notts County and second placed Swindon Town which put the division on notice and stated their intent for a play-off place.

Colchester United currently sit fourth from bottom in League One having won just once in their last five matches, and that was a 2-0 home win over fellow strugglers Leyton Orient. But three defeats from the five matches with losses to Walsall, Crewe Alexandra and Sheffield United show that they’re not firing on all cylinders.

On their travels, The U’s hold an overall record of  4-5-6  19/25 which actually isn’t that bad but they’ve gone seven matches away at top half opposition without securing a win, and their recent 4-1 loss at Sheffield United emphasis this point.

All of Colchester’s successes on the road have been away against bottom half opposition, but with Oldham’s improvements in recent weeks, I’ll back The Latics to secure the points in a 2-1 win.

Pick: Oldham Athletic straight win @ 1.85 bet365
