PETERBOROUGH v SCUNTHORPE – Pick: 1 AH-1 – 01 November 2014

Posh push for the points against poor Iron

League One/Two Tips

Football – England – League One

Saturday 1st November 2014 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

Peterborough United are fast becoming a side that tends to struggle away from home against the lower half opposition of League One following back-to-back defeats away at Crewe Alexandra 0-1 and Coventry City 2-3 as the Sky Blues came from 2-0 behind to take the points.

However, The Posh have a great chance of getting back on the winning wagon here this afternoon when they take on bottom of the pile Scunthorpe United at London Road where they’ve been unbeaten in their last five league matches.

Peterborough’s home form has once again been solid so far this term as they’ve racked up a good  4-2-1  12/8  record ahead of todays encounter with wins over MK Dons, Port Vale, Fleetwood Town and Barnsley along with draws against fellow play-off hopefuls Notts County and Oldham Athletic.

Maddison and Washington (5 goals apiece) look the most likely anytime goalscorers for the hosts today.

Visitors Scunthorpe United suffered their ninth defeat of the season when they lost 0-1 at home to Notts County, and The Iron have won just once in their last seven league matches going into todays game.

Scunthorpe actually turned in a decent away performance away at Gillingham a couple of away matches ago as they ran out 3-0 winners at Priestfield Stadium which was a good result, but overall, they’ve been pretty disappointing on the road this terms as their current away record of  1-2-4  10/15 shows.

In addition, Scunthorpe have really struggled away at top half opposition this season as all four defeats have been against teams such as Swindon Town, Bristol City, Chesterfield and Oldham Athletic with Scunthorpe scoring 4 goals but conceding 12 in reply.

Peterborough will want to put last Saturday’s disappointing loss at Coventry behind them as quickly as possible and that means a win here today. I’ll also back the hosts to cover the -1 line too at odds  over evens. Peterborough to win perhaps 3-1.
