Plymouth Argyle have dropped down to fourth spot in League Two at the expense of two draws in recent weeks having been involved in 1-1 and 0-0 draws with Bristol Rovers and Mansfield Town respectively.
However, the visit from Barnet tonight at their Home Park ground provides The Pilgrims with the perfect opportunity to bounce back with a much-needed win to keep their promotion challenge on track. But with just one defeat from their last seven matches, Plymouth are seemingly in the box seat to take the points tonight.
Plymouth’s home form stands on the right side at 2-1-1 7/4 and they’ve managed to score in each of their last nine League Two matches on home turf; in fact, Plymouth have been involved in over 2.5 goals in four of their last six matches at home.
Visitors Barnet head into tonight’s clash on the back of two consecutive wins at The Hive with victories registered over Stevenage 3-2 and Dagenham & Redbridge 3-1 respectively, but it should be noted that both of these recent wins were at home.
Away from home, Barnet have lost their last six on the trot in League Two while their overall away form this season has been appalling having lost their first four matches on the road on the trot with losses at Leyton Orient, Bristol Rovers, Carlisle United and Portsmouth.
Barnet’s away record therefore stands at a poor 0-0-4 4/11 and their last three have resulted in over 2.5 goals. Up front, strikers Gash and Akinde look to be the most likely anytime goalscorer for the visitors here.
But with Plymouth possessing the likes of Jervis and Reid in their attacking ranks, the hosts could achieve the 3-goal target just by themselves. I’ll back a Plymouth win perhaps 2-1, but i advise the over 2.5 goal option.
