SHEFFIELD UTD v FLEETWOOD – Pick: 1 – 07 March 2015

Blades to cut Cod Army in play-off push

League One/Two Tips

Football – England – League One

Saturday 7th March 2015 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

Sheffield United will be looking to redeem themselves following their midweek home loss to Peterborough United when they host Fleetwood Town at Bramall Lane on Saturday.

Tuesday night’s defeat ended a six-match unbeaten run for The Blades which included recent wins over Colchester United, Bristol City, Notts County and Rochdale, and with the visit of Fleetwood here this afternoon, I am anticipating the home side bouncing back to take the points.

Sheffield United’s overall home record stands at  7-5-4  23/16 and they’ve lost just once in their last six on home turf, which was the Peterborough result. Murphy and McNulty look the most likely anytime goalscorers for the hosts in this one.

Visitors Fleetwood Town and their inconsistent streak has resulted in The Cod Army slowly slipping down the League One table with just two wins from their last seven league matches. These wins were registered away at Barnsley and at home over a struggling Notts County outfit, while they’ve recently suffered defeats to Bristol City, Crewe Alexandra and Chesterfield (incidentally, all were away from home).

Looking at Fleetwood’s away record in more detail, it currently stands at  6-1-10  14/20 with only Crewe and Crawley Town (11 defeats each) racking up more away defeats than them. Fleetwood have also failed to score in three of their last four matches on their travels, and this problem may surface again at Sheffield today.

Sheffield United will be keen to bounce back here and look to cement their current play-off position while Fleetwood just can’t be trusted on the road having lost double figures so far this season. This might be a 1-0 win for the hosts.

Pick: Sheffield United straight win @ 1.73 Coral
