Amidst all of the current World Cup qualifier action, the domestic leagues are still in operation, and a quick look at League One next with hosts Sheffield United taking on Millwall at Bramall Lane, as the home side look to extend their lead at the top of the division.
Sheffield United are unbeaten in their last ten league matches which has helped them to top spot in League One where they hold a valuable four-point lead over second placed Bolton Wanderers, and with Bolton not in action tonight, The Blades could steal a march on their title rivals here.
United hold a solid home record which stands at 13-3-3 32/14 and they’ve won three of their last four matches on home turf, which includes a vital 2-0 win over the aforementioned Bolton Wanderers. Watch out for leading goalscorer Billy Sharp (26 goals) as a potential anytime goalscorer.
Visitors Millwall’s play-off ambitions have taken a bit of a dent in recent weeks as they’ve failed to win any of their last three league matches following stalemates with Bury and Rochdale along with a 1-0 defeat away at relegation threatened Swindon Town last weekend.
However, on the flip side, that was The Lions’ first defeat in 16 matches, so we shouldn’t be too harsh on Neil Harris’s outfit! The fact still remains though that Millwall have registered just one away win from their last eight matches, that being a 2-0 win at bottom club Coventry City.
With an away record that stands at 5-6-7 25/32 and a below-par record away at top half teams this season which stands at 1-4-4 9/19, I do feel that they may well struggle against an in-form Sheffield United outfit here this evening.
