Onto the Norwegian top flight and fifth placed Stabaek will be looking to claim all three points on Monday night when they take on bottom club Viking at their Nadderud Stadion in Baerum.
Stabaek have lost just once in their last seven league matches in the Eliteserien which was a 3-0 defeat at home to Haugesund, but recent wins over Tromso and Stromsgodset, both away from home, will give them confidence of further adding to their points tally here.
Stabaek possess a pretty good early home record of 3-1-1 8/4 so far on home turf which includes wins over Aalesund, Odd and Sarpsborg, who, incidentally, all currently occupy a position in the top six of the division.
Visitors Viking sit rock bottom of the Norwegian Eliteserien with just four points to their name following a very slow start to the new campaign which has seen them register just one win, but lose seven of their first nine league games.
Viking’s solitary league win came in a 3-0 victory at home over Odd, but they head into Monday evening’s encounter having now gone four matches without a win, and this includes three defeats on the trot prior to this clash.
Losses to Sandefjord, Sogndal and Aalesund is not the sort of preparation when you have to go away on the road, not least when you’re sitting bottom of the division, and with a poor early away record of 0-1-3 1/9 under their belts, this could be another difficult fixture for the visitors.
I’ll therefore back the hosts to win here, but I do advise giving the quarter ball on them.
