Football – England – National League Betting Tips

Prenton Park, so long a venue in the Football League, will play host to the National League fixture between hosts Tranmere Rovers and visitors Gateshead on Tuesday night as the home side look to build upon their encouraging point away at Dagenham & Redbridge on the weekend.

Tranmere recorded a 3-1 home win over Woking last time out on home turf, and despite a couple of recent defeats away from home at Aldershot Town and Sutton United, Rovers’ form at home has been pretty solid so far in this new campaign.

The hosts have won five of their first six at home with wins over Barrow, Eastleigh, Maidstone United, Guiseley and Woking while suffering just one defeat so far, which was a narrow 1-0 loss to fourth placed Lincoln City.

Visitors Gateshead were held to a 0-0 draw at home by Torquay United on Saturday afternoon which extended their run without a win in the National League to four matches following defeats to North Ferriby and Aldershot Town along with another 0-0 stalemate at home with Solihull Moors.

Gateshead’s away record isn’t much better as they’ve registered just one win from their last five on the road which was a 4-1 win at struggling Braintree Town, but with an overall away record of  2-0-4  9/11 under their belts so far, they could once again struggle at Tranmere this time too.

The last time The Heed visited Prenton Park they were soundly beaten 3-1 back in March of last season, and it wouldn’t surprise me if we saw a similar scoreline here this evening.

That said, I’ll err on the side of caution as it is a midweek fixture.
