Uniao Madeira will be wanting to avoid a third consecutive defeat in the Portuguese Primeira Liga tonight, but despite holding home advantage, they’ll have their work cut out to get something from tonight’s encounter with fifth placed Braga.
Uniao Madeira currently sit third from bottom in the top flight but they still remain unbeaten at home with an overall record of 1-2-0 2/1 to their name with their one sole win coming in a 2-1 win over Maritimo. A couple of 0-0 stalemates have since followed against Vitoria Guimaraes and Arouca respectively, and in their last meeting against Braga, Uniao Madeira hung on for a point in another 0-0 draw.
However, tonight’s hosts haven’t won a league match in their last six attempts and may well lack the cutting edge to take all three points this evening.
Visitors Braga occupy fifth place in the Portuguese top flight and a win tonight could lift them up into second place at the expense of Portuguese giants Benfica and just three points adrift of current league leaders Sporting CP.
Braga head into tonight’s encounter on the back of a five-match unbeaten run which includes heavy wins over Maritimo 5-1 and Belenenses 4-0 which were either side of a 1-0 win away at Vitoria Guimaraes.
Braga’s overall away record reads 1-1-2 1/2 and they seem to have recovered from their two straight defeats on the road at Rio Ave and Estoril as they took all three points at Vitoria Guimaraes and nicked a point in a 0-0 draw at Porto.
This may end up a draw but I’ll give the quarter ball on Braga who might just nick this perhaps 1-0.
