WALSALL v DONCASTER – Pick: 2 AH+0.5 – 27 September 2014

Rovers could unsaddle Walsall at the Banks's

League One/Two Tips

Football – England – League One

Saturday 27th September 2014 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

After two away games on the trot for Walsall, they now return for two home matches on the bounce starting with today’s visitors Doncaster Rovers and League One leaders Bristol City the match after.

Walsall have registered just one league win from their first nine matches including five draws, that win came against Preston North End in a slightly surprising 3-1 win at their Banks’s Stadium, but aside from that rare win, The Saddlers have had very little to cheer about in recent times.

In fact, the win over Preston has been their only success from their last seven home matches while winning just twice in their last fifteen matches on home soil, and this underlines their problems currently and the main reason why they find themselves just one place above the relegation pack.

Walsall’s overall home record this season stands at  1-2-1  4/3.

Visitors Doncaster Rovers have fared slightly better in their new League One campaign with wins so far against Yeovil Town 3-0 away, Colchester United 1-0 away and last Saturday’s 3-2 home win over Chesterfield.

Their away record stands at  2-0-1  4/3 and a 0-3 defeat away at league leaders Bristol City on their last trip, ended a run of four straight wins on their travels for Rovers. the fact that they’ve shown they can get points away from home in this division bodes well for them at Walsall this afternoon given the host’s stuttering start to the season.

With the draw featuring heavily so far in matches involving Walsall, I’d recommend having the draw on your side if backing Doncaster Rovers, and with the handicap start at an attractive price, this will be my pick for today. Doncaster could still win this one perhaps 1-0 though.
