Wigan to condemn Shrewsbury to further agony

League One/Two Tips

WIGAN ATHLETIC v SHREWSBURY TOWN

Football – England – League One Betting Tips

Wigan Athletic extended their unbeaten run of matches in League One to ten last weekend when they secured all three points in a 2-0 win away at Rochdale but The Latics still only sit in fifth place going into this weekend’s round of fixtures.

Wigan are four points adrift of joint league leaders Gillingham and Coventry City as they prepare for the visit of lowly Shrewsbury Town who are just a point above the relegation pack in the bottom half of the division.

Wigan’s home record has been solid all season to date as they’ve posted a record on home turf of  5-3-0  14/3 and they’ve won their last two on the trot with wins over Colchester United 5-0 and Swindon Town 1-0, and in addition, Gary Caldwell’s side have gained six clean sheets at the DW Stadium already this term.

Shrewsbury Town however, can only dream of such feats from their defensive unit as they succumbed to another defeat last weekend in a 2-0 loss away at Port Vale to leave The Shrews just one point above the relegation pack in League One.

Despite recent victories over Colchester United and Bury, both of these rare successes were registered at their own Greenhous Meadow ground where they’ve won three of their five wins so far this season.

But four straight defeats on their travels at Rochdale, Coventry City, Scunthorpe United and Port Vale have kept Shrewsbury in the nether regions of the division with a tough trip ahead of them this afternoon.

I fully expect Wigan to claim all three points here today, but they might have to settle for perhaps a 1-0 win.

Pick: Wigan Athletic straight win @ 1.67 William Hill
