WYCOMBE v PLYMOUTH – Pick: 1 – 14 May 2015

Wycombe to book final place tonight

League One/Two Tips

Football – England – League Two

Thursday 14th May 2015 – Kickoff: 1945hrs

Wycombe Wanderers moved into the box seat for a place in the League Two Play Off Final following a 3-2 win away at Plymouth Argyle at Home Park last Saturday, and they now hold home advantage at Adams Park in Thursday night’s second leg.

The hosts have come into form at just the right time as they’ve lost just once in their last six matches overall (a 1-0 defeat at home to Morecambe), but recent wins over Cheltenham Town and Exeter City along with away wins at Northampton Town and Plymouth have set them up for a place at Wembley to contest a spot in League One next season.

The Chairboys’ home record finished up on  10-7-6  30/25 and they’ll be looking to break a curious record between these two teams here tonight as the away side has won the last six encounters on the trot!

Visitors Plymouth Argyle demonstrated their inconsistent streak in the final weeks of the regular League Two season as they secured wins against Cheltenham Town, Mansfield town, Tranmere Rovers and Shrewsbury Town while also being defeated by the likes of Portsmouth and Carlisle United.

To lose at Home Park last Saturday in the first leg of the play-off semi final was a huge blow to The Pilgrims and they now appear to face a mountain to climb as they look to overhaul a one goal deficit at Adams Park.

Plymouth’s job is made that much harder when you consider they lost the most away matches out of all the teams in the top seven of the division, and indeed, only Northampton Town (13 defeats) lost more than Plymouth away from home in the top half of League Two. Plymouth’s away record finished up on  7-5-11  21/23 and they registered just two wins on the road from their last seven matches.

Wycombe go into tonight’s second leg with the upper hand then, and with home advantage, I’ll back The Chairboys for the win here, perhaps by a 2-1 scoreline, to progress into the Play Off Final.
