Young Boys seek opening home win

Football – Switzerland – Super League

Sunday 27th July 2014 – Kickoff: 1345hrs

Sunday afternoon brings us another batch of fixtures in the Swiss Super League and my next pick features Young Boys taking on Aarau at the Stade de Suiss.

Young Boys started their new Super League season with a point away at St. Gallen in a 2-2 draw but they now have home advantage over visitors Aarau who finished last season second from bottom in the division.

The hosts finished up in third place last season and that was largely due to their home form which was pretty solid and ended with figures of  10-3-5  32/25. They are also unbeaten in their last five Super League matches too which is a record they will be looking to preserve going into today’s match.

Visitors Aarau as mentioned earlier, finished second from bottom in the Super League last season and had it not been for the poor form of Lausanne Sport, they would have ended up playing Challenge League football this term.

This season, they’ve produced two mixed results so far with a 1-2 home defeat to Basel in their opening game of the new season but then beat Sion 1-0 at home on Wednesday night. However, they now make their first away trip to Young Boys and it will be a big test of their resolve on the road once again I daresay.

To wrap up, in their last meeting with Aarau on home turf, Young Boys ran out 3-0 winners, and while they may not register the same scoreline here today, I’ll back the hosts to pick up the three points this afternoon to get their home season underway on a winning note.

Pick: Young Boys straight win @ 1.80 Stan James
