West Ham v Chelsea Betting Preview – EFL Cup 26th October

The fourth round of the EFL Cup brings about some big clashes this week and on Wednesday we have a London derby at the Olympic Stadium. Chelsea, who will be high in confidence after having beaten Manchester United heavily in the Premier League on the weekend will be looking to take a step closer to some silverware with a win at West Ham. The Hammers scraped by Sunderland at home on the weekend in the top flight and while they have started picking up points, they still look short of what they were producing last season. Will Chelsea swoop in and get the better of them?

Enjoy the great Boylesports Crossbar Challenge promotion for selected games this season. West Ham v Chelsea Betting Tips

The Hammers will probably be targeting some cup success in this one because of their poor start in the Premier League. This tournament could bring them a bit of joy. The Hammers, to their credit have just about started to turn around their form with a W3 D1 L1 record in their last five and it was a home win against Accrington in the last round which kicked off that sequence. The three wins that the Hammers have put up in that sequence have all been 1-0 wins and a West Ham 1-0 correct score in this one will return you a big price of 14/1, because the Hammers are underdogs for this one. These two have already met in the Premier League this season and Chelsea took a 2-1 win at the Bridge back in August. Things are even in a W1 D1 L1 record over the last three between these two, however West Ham have won just one of their last eight against the Blues (W1 D1 L6).

Both teams have scored in each of the last three meetings and that is worth a punt at a price of 8/13 therefore. At home this season the Hammers have gone just W4 D1 L3 across all competitions and therefore it has been a bit of a tough transition to their new home. They have managed to score in all but one of those nine home matches across all competitions though, but only twice has it been more than one goal. Of the four games that they have won at home this season, three have them have been by a 1-0 scoreline, including their late win over Sunderland on the weekend. With so many injury issues going forward, the Hammers certainly are not at where they could be. Will that again prove costly as they take on Chelsea in this London derby. Under 2.5 goals on the game will fetch a price of 11/10.

After their little slump this season in back to back games against Arsenal and Liverpool, Chelsea boss Antonio Conte did something. He changed their formation to his favoured 3-5-2 and they haven’t looked back since. They hammered Manchester United 4-0 on the weekend and you imagine that the Blues will stay fairly strong for this one. It is likely a good chance for Michy Batshuayi to get a run out from the start and the summer signing is a 6/5 shot in the anytime goalscorer market. Chelsea beat Leicester at the King Power in the last round after extra time which was after being 2-0 down in the match. The Blues are 7/1 price to win 2-1 again in the correct score market and are value having won two of their last three visits to the Hammers, with clean sheets in both of those victories.

West Ham v Chelsea Predictions

Neither are likely to be at their strongest ,but Chelsea should be able to edge this London derby. West Ham are struggling up front right now and Chelsea meanwhile, have taken on a new lease of life after the formation change by Conte. Look for both teams to score in the match, but for the visitors to take the win. They just have more depth that they can call on from the bench if needed.
