Following a run of five Championship matches without defeat, Birmingham City have since slumped to three matches without a win as The Blues have been held to draws by lowly Bristol City and Rotherham United, along with a 2-1 defeat at home to Sheffield Wednesday.
However, overall, Birmingham have lost just once in their last eight matches, and all three points this evening is a must if they’re to keep pace with the play-off pack since dropping down into 8th place.
Birmingham’s home record stands at 7-2-6 17/16 and the loss to Sheffield Wednesday halted a run of four straight wins for them as they’d dealt with Cardiff City, MK Dons, Brentford and Ipswich Town at St Andrews.
Visitors Bolton Wanderers’ fortunes have improved in recent weeks as The Trotters have lost just once in their last five, and is a run including wins over MK Dons and Rotherham United along with draws against Wolves and QPR.
However, Bolton’s two recent wins were recorded at their Macron Stadium while their away form has continued it’s disappointing trend with Bolton still in search of their first away win of the season – a record of 0-4-12 13/36 shouldn’t cause Birmingham too many problems I fancy.
With just two clean sheets on their travels all season on the road, Bolton may set themselves up to nick a point here as Birmingham have struggled for consistency on home turf.
