Football – England – Championship Betting Tips

Birmingham City will be looking to avoid a third defeat in four matches in the Championship when they take on Brentford at St Andrews on Monday afternoon as the pressure already mounts on the Blues’ new boss Gianfranco Zola.

Zola recently replaced former manager Gary Rowett (who, in my humble opinion was the best manager for City since Steve Bruce), in what can only be described as an idiotic and non-sensical decision by the vastly inexperienced new owners of the club as they attempted to make their mark on their new toy. However, this decision has arguably cost Birmingham City six points already following defeats to Brighton and Derby County.

Birmingham did rally however with a 2-2 draw away at Barnsley, but defeat to Brentford at home today could really pile on the pressure on Zola who wasn’t the fans choice by any means! Blues do hold a fairly good home record though of  6-3-3  18/15 so far this season.

Visitors Brentford sit in 15th place in the Championship and they’re in a holding pattern right now following recent wins over Burton Albion and Bristol City along with draws earned against Cardiff City and Norwich City.

However, The Bees have continued to struggle to put any sort of run together on the road as their current overall away record of  3-2-7 11/19  indicates and although they’ve registered recent wins at QPR and Bristol City, both of these teams are in the bottom half of the Championship.

Defeats at Blackburn Rovers, an out of sorts Norwich City and Leeds United suggests they possess a weakness away from Griffin Park.
