BLACKPOOL v SHEFFIELD WEDS – Pick: 2 – 07 March 2015

Life's a beach for The Owls at Seasiders

Championship Tips

Football – England – Championship

Saturday 7th March 2015 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

Blackpool suffered another Championship defeat on Wednesday night as they slumped to a 1-0 loss away at Birmingham City as former manager Lee Clark failed to repeat his earlier win over The Blues since his departure from the midlands club.

This recent defeat has left The Seasiders 15 points adrift of Rotherham United and safety and they now face an almost impossible task of remaining in the Championship with time running out fast. Blackpool are now without a win from their last seven matches overall, having suffered defeat to Norwich City, Middlesbrough, Brentford, Wigan Athletic and Birmingham City.

The hosts’ home record stands at  4-4-9  16/28 and they’re without a win from their last three at Bloomfield Road as they’ve lost to Middlesbrough and Wigan and drawn with Nottingham Forest.

Visitors Sheffield Wednesday sit just above halfway in the Championship thanks to recent back-to-back league wins over Millwall and Middlesbrough, although they came crashing back down to earth following Wednesday night’s home loss to Blackburn Rovers.

Sheffield Wednesday have produced some inconsistent results of late with additional defeats to Derby County and Ipswich Town although these were tough fixtures for The Owls to get anything from. However, they did manage a 3-1 win away at Millwall in their last away trip.

The Owls’ overall away record stands at  7-5-5  20/19 and as well as a win at Millwall, they’ve also registered wins at Brighton, Middlesbrough, Birmingham City and Blackburn Rovers so they shouldn’t be ruled out here this afternoon.

Blackpool’s confidence took another blow during midweek, so I reckon there’s some value to be had with the visitors here who could run out perhaps 1-0 winners in this one.

Pick: Sheffield Wednesday straight win @ 1.83 Bet Victor
