Bolton Wanderers were handed a derby-day defeat away at Turf Moor on Saturday when they lost 2-0 at Burnley which has heaped further pressure on under-fire manager Neil Lennon with his side now sitting bottom of the Championship as a result.
Back-to-back defeats to QPR and Burnley have only added to Bolton’s already poor run of form where The Trotters have failed to win in the Championship for five matches which also includes a heavy 4-1 defeat to Huddersfield Town. In fact, Bolton Wanderers have managed just one league win from their last 16 matches in this division, so history is not on their side.
Bolton’s overall home record stands at 1-4-0 5/4 though so they’re still unbeaten at the Macron Stadium which is a positive angle for them despite their rock-bottom league position. On the flip-side, they’ve registered just one home win from their last nine, as there have been plenty of draws.
Visitors Birmingham City registered a third Championship win on the trot on Saturday with a 2-1 win over QPR at St Andrews which followed previous wins over Brentford and Leeds United which has lifted The Blues up into fourth place.
Despite losing twice at St Andrews already this season, Birmingham still remain unbeaten on their travels with an overall record of 3-2-0 9/3 having recorded wins at MK Dons along with the aforementioned Brentford and Leeds United.
More impressive though is the fact that Birmingham have kept five clean sheets from their last seven on the road and this kind of defensive attribute should hold them in good stead this evening too against an out-of-form Bolton outfit.
To sum up, I reckon Birmingham stand a good chance of taking a point if not all three, hence my handicap pick on them here.
