Bournemouth were held to a 2-2 draw against Derby County at Dean Court on Tuesday night in a top-of-the-table clash, but they now have the chance to continue their impressive season again this afternoon by taking the points against Huddersfield Town.
Bournemouth have lost just twice in their last twenty league matches with defeats to Norwich City (at home) and away at Leeds United last month, but The Cherries have shown great stamina to remain at the top of the Championship for so long.
They are now actually in second place, but with a home record of 8-4-3 29/19 behind them and recent wins over Cardiff City, Fulham and Watford along with holding Derby to a point, they’ll no doubt be confident of taking the spoils here this afternoon.
Visitors Huddersfield Town have produced some mixed results in the past few weeks with wins over struggling Millwall and Wigan Athletic while also suffering defeats at the hands of Middlesbrough, Yorkshire rivals Leeds United and a heavy 4-1 midweek home defeat to Wolves.
As a result of their inconsistent results, Chris Powell’s boys sit in the bottom half of the Championship, while their away record has been in fits and starts which currently stands at 4-3-8 19/31. Their recent wins at the aforementioned Millwall and Wigan should be taken with a pinch of salt as both of these opponents are struggling in the bottom three of the division.
The Terriers themselves have struggled away at the stronger teams in the Championship with previous defeats at Derby County, Norwich City and Middlesbrough.
This then, looks like a straightforward win for The Cherries, and given the hosts’ firepower up front and Huddersfield’s sieve-like defence on the road, I’ll also back them to cover the -1 asian line in what could perhaps be a 2-0 or 3-1 win.
