Football – England – Championship Betting Tips

After having suffered back-to-back defeats to Newcastle United and Brentford earlier in this new campaign, this afternoon’s hosts Brighton seem to have recovered and steadied the ship somewhat following four wins from their last five in the Championship.

They now take on bottom half outfit Preston North End at their AMEX Stadium today looking to add to their points tally on home turf which could lift them up into an automatic promotion spot depending upon Norwich’s result against Rotherham United of course.

Recent wins over Huddersfield Town, Burton Albion, Barnsley and Sheffield Wednesday have once again placed Chris Hughton’s men in the frame for a play-off place, but they’ll need to improve their results away from home if they’re to be considered genuine play-off material. But at home, The Seagulls hold a very useful  4-0-1 9/2 record with striker Glenn Murray (5 goals) leading the way.

Visitors Preston North End currently reside in 17th place but although they’ve picked up recent wins over Cardiff City, Wigan Athletic and Aston Villa, it should be flagged that these wins all came at Deepdale on home turf, while their away results have been less flattering.

Preston have registered just the one win on the road so far this season and that was a slightly surprising 2-0 win away at out-of-sorts mid-table QPR who seem to be struggling in these early stages. But aside from that win, Preston have come off second best at Reading, Ipswich Town and Brentford with the latter being a heavy 5-0 defeat to The Bees.

Preston’s away record stands at  1-1-3  4/9 which includes failing to hit the back of the net on three occasions so far already.
