CHARLTON v BLACKBURN – Pick: X – 14 March 2015

Addicks and Rovers to share the points at The Valley

Championship Tips

Football – England – Championship

Saturday 14th March 2015 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

Next up is a mid-table clash between a much improved Charlton Athletic outfit and Blackburn Rovers at The Valley.

Charlton have won five of their last six in the Championship following a period of instability during and after the reign of former manager Bob Peeters, as the joint leadership of Matthew and Luzon appears to be bearing fruit for The Addicks with a much-needed run of form.

Wins against Brentford, Wigan Athletic, Huddersfield Town, Nottingham Forest and Cardiff City have lifted Charlton away from any relegation fears that may have started to creep in and they now sit in the safety of mid-table and 17 points ahead of the bottom three.

Charlton’s home record stands at  7-8-3  25/17 and they’ve lost just once in their last five at The Valley.

Visitors Blackburn Rovers have appeared to flirt with the play-off pack all season without ever really making a move, and their inconsistencies have resulted in them being 11 points adrift of play-off hopefuls Brentford.

Blackburn have posted back-to-back wins recently with victories over Sheffield Wednesday and Lancashire rivals Bolton Wanderers but despite the potent attacking force of Gestede and Rhodes up front, they’ve never really looked like breaking into the top six.

Their away form might have something to do with this as it reads  4-7-7  19/26 with just one win in their last eleven away matches (this includes six stalemates during this sequence).

Both Charlton and Blackburn are mid-table for a reason and so I reckon there’s a fair chance that this encounter could end in yet another draw this afternoon – could be a 1-1 draw to keep both sides happy.
