Despite having lost two of their last three matches in the Championship, tonight’s hosts Derby County will be confident of bouncing back this evening when they take on east midlands rivals Burton Albion at the iPro Stadium.
Recent defeats to Newcastle United and a resurgent Cardiff City, along with a draw against Bristol City have seen The Rams drop down to 11th place, but all three points in this clash could see them move to within striking distance of the play-off pack.
Derby’s home record stands at an okay looking 7-5-4 21/14 and prior to the defeat to Cardiff City, they’d previously put together a 10-match unbeaten run on home turf. Journeyman striker Darren Bent (9 goals) is the main threat up front for the home team.
Visitors Burton Albion have shown very inconsistent results so far throughout their inaugural campaign in the Championship and they are perched just above the relegation zone as they prepare to take on Derby County on Tuesday night.
Burton’s 2-1 home win over Norwich City on the weekend relieved the stress for a while as they now sit two league places and four points ahead of third from bottom club Wigan Athletic, but Burton’s away record has been questionable so far this term.
The Brewers hold a record of 2-5-9 16/30 on the road this season which includes wins at Rotherham United and QPR, but you’ll note that both of these recent victories were against bottom half opposition.
